Bridging Macroeconomics, Public Finance & Blockchain Economics

Abdoulaye NDIAYE is Assistant Professor of Economics at NYU Stern School of Business. His research focuses on macroeconomics, public finance, development, and political economy — with a growing body of work on blockchain economics, including transaction fee mechanisms, parallel execution, and the design of price- versus quantity-based controls for decentralized systems.

Prior to joining NYU Stern in 2019, he was a Research Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and later served as Senior Advisor to Senegal’s Minister of the Economy, Planning and Cooperation. He holds a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University and degrees from École Polytechnique in Paris. A Visiting Scholar at the United Nations, Harvard, and Princeton, he has been recognized as one of Africa’s leading young economists (NextGen Best African Economist Under 40) and awarded the Yuki Arai Faculty Research Prize in Finance. His blockchain research has been presented at Financial Cryptography conferences and a16z crypto events.
