Architecting Miami as America’s Blockchain City

Chairman Elijah John Bowdre is the Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Cryptocurrency Task Force and a leading force behind Blockchain City / Miami Initiatives. Recognized as one of the highest-ranking public officials focused on cryptocurrency in the United States, he has authored Florida’s first state blockchain bill, the Miami-Dade County Blockchain Board ordinance, and Miami’s pioneering crypto payments policy — embedding digital assets into municipal operations from employee compensation to public services.

With a background in finance at institutions including J.P. Morgan and Barclays Capital, followed by nearly a decade building businesses in China where he first encountered Bitcoin, Bowdre returned to Miami to drive municipal adoption of blockchain and AI. As Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Digital Commission and President/Co-founder of the US Crypto Policy Alliance, he continues to position Miami as a global model for responsible crypto integration, smart-city infrastructure, and technology-driven economic development.
